Standard Media Processing Workflow

Let Me Share How We Work with Product Photos — And Why It's Essential Before Uploading to Your Store Catalog

In most cases, clients provide photos of varying quality — products on inconsistent backgrounds, with different formats and image sizes. If uploaded as-is, the storefront ends up looking like a patchwork quilt, which hardly inspires customers to make a purchase.

That’s why all materials must be standardized based on the platform requirements and client preferences.
Typically, we prepare 1–3 clean product shots on a white background from different angles, plus 2 lifestyle images with a natural setting to highlight the product in context.

Object Cutout

When working with a large batch of photos, this is a crucial step. In nearly 100% of cases, products appear against colored backgrounds, off-white shades, or uneven grey tones. Often, the object’s proportions don’t harmonize with the frame size, and there may be distracting elements in the shot.

This stage is essential, as it allows us to create a uniform background across the entire photo set and adjust the object’s proportions as needed. For example, Amazon’s image guidelines recommend that a product should occupy at least 80% of the total frame area.

Placing the Object on a New Background

The background is usually approved in coordination with the client. In most cases, for the first three images, we use either a pure white or a neutral grey background. For lifestyle shots, we create custom backgrounds based on the client’s description.

The product is placed into the composition with accurate proportions, added shadows, and adjusted lighting for a natural look.
For promotional posters and product presentations on ad networks or marketplaces, we create infographics that highlight key features and benefits.

Centering, Scaling, and Shadows

In many of the photos we receive, the product is often positioned off-center or out of proportion within the frame. For product listings — regardless of the chosen background — we standardize the object's size and proportions.

When placed on a white or grey background without infographics, the product is positioned to occupy approximately 80% of the frame.
This processing is applied consistently across all catalog items to ensure a clean and professional look.

Image Upscaling & Publishing

If needed, we upscale product images and enhance their details before publishing the final materials.

Here are just a few things that happen to your product images behind the scenes :)

A Few More Examples of Our Work

Placing the Object in an Interior Scene with Realistic Lighting

In this example, the client provided a photo of a children's plush toy.

Brief:

  • Retouch the photo, resize, and enhance the details.
  • Place the object on a white background for the first product image, and replace the books under the brown bunny with something more suitable.
  • Place the object on two different backgrounds, as agreed with the client.
  • Adjust the lighting and shadows in the frame to align with the composition.

Isolated Image on a White Background for the First Product Photo

The object has been isolated from the background. Instead of books, the teddy bear is now sitting on a stump. The details, colors, and contrast have been enhanced.

On-Site Photoshoot at the Client’s Warehouse — From Capture to Final Image

For this project, we visited the client’s warehouse to carry out a full-cycle content production.

Scope of Work:

  • Captured high-quality product photos from multiple angles

  • Processed RAW files: performed color correction, enhanced sharpness, and adjusted white balance

  • Create one image for each product angle on a white background, adding subtle shadows around the object’s outline to visually separate it from the background and give it some depth.

  • Designed a thematic background for the main product angle (a tank model, in this case)

  • Where possible, added subtle animation to enhance visual appeal

The result?
A set of polished, versatile visuals ready for online stores, catalogs, and promotional use.

Below are some highlights from this project

Breaking Down the Photoshoot Results

We processed all necessary RAW files, applied color correction, adjusted white balance, and enhanced sharpness for each product image.

And a Touch of Animation :)

As part of the project, we produced a 30-second animated video for the client. Below is a short preview showcasing the opening moments of the animation.
